Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health problem characterized by chronic hyperglycemia, which disrupts the antioxidant defense system and increases reactive oxygen species. These changes contribute to the progression and complications of diabetes. The present study aimed to systematically review the effects of bioactive food compounds on oxidative stress and the antioxidant defense systems in patients with T2DM.
