Abstract
Digital Twins are not limited to the industrial sector and are not always three-dimensional virtual models. Their world is much more complex and is based on mathematical models that seek to predict behavior. Those 3D models with the consideration of Digital Twin must be bidirectional: this is achieved with the incorporation of monitoring and sensorization. Taking into account the large volume of data that this generates, its development has been favored with the incorporation of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): IoT, Big Data, Cloud Computing or Machine Learning. On the other hand, the digitalization of society is a challenge that governments are promoting. This strategy is fundamental in the case of Smart Villages, because implicit in their definition is the need for technology as an element that reduces the distance with large urban centers and turns them into attractive enclaves. The article addresses the experience of Prádena del Rincón, and the contribution of a Digital Twin to the empowerment of this rural enclave.
