Abstract
The paper explores the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Project-Based Learning (PBL), and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in higher education, particularly at La Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM). It highlights the increasing influence of English in academia and the transformative impact of AI on teaching and learning. The study aims to demonstrate how PBL and AI can be effectively integrated into ESP classrooms, focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
The research seeks to:
1. Evaluate the effectiveness of PBL in ESP classrooms.
2. Assess AI’s role in enhancing language learning and communication.
3. Investigate students’ engagement and motivation in a PBL-driven ESP environment.
4. Address challenges related to AI misuse, particularly in writing assignments.
5. Explore real-world applications of ESP learning beyond traditional essays, such as developing apps or programs.
