The General Assembly has been the UN body that has promoted successive development plans throughout its decades of existence, always accompanied by the political monitoring work of the Economic and Social Council. In this study, that trajectory is reviewed and the meager role of the Security Council regarding the 2030 Agenda is analyzed, with only two resolutions referring to sustainable development up to the date, S/RES/2282 (2016), regarding the examination of the structure of peacebuilding, and S/RES/2553 (2020), on the maintenance of international peace and security.
