Abstract

This research presents a work in progress aiming to map Spanish video games developers’ production in the area of mobile educational video games. A sample of 30 Spanish video games developers was analyzed in order to explore the weight that educational video games for mobile devices represents in their product portfolio. Primary findings suggest that Spanish video games developers’ production of educational video games for mobile devices is very scarce. While 23,3% of the analyzed video games developers is developing educational video games just 40% of the video games developers which are developing educational video games are developing educational video games for mobile devices (6,6% of the overall sample). Results suggest that the development of educational video games for mobile devices might represent a promising business line in the future for these companies
