Abstract
Hypertension (HTN) is a major predisposing factor for coronary artery disease, heart failure (HF) and cerebrovascular disease. HTN affects exercise capacity by impairing left ventricular relaxation, which results in diastolic dysfunction. Thus, patients with hypertensive cardiomyopathy often complain of shortness of breath and reduced exercise tolerance, a phenomenon that may impact their clinical evaluation.
