La Asociación Transatlántica para el Comercio y la Inversión (TTIP) entre la UE y EEUU: previsiones para el sector agrícola

Abstract

La Asociación Transatlántica para el Comercio y la Inversión (TTIP) (también denominada precipitadamente Tratado) es un proyecto de colaboración entre la Unión Europea y los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica que aspira a mejorar el comercio entre ambas regiones mediante la supresión de aranceles y otras trabas administrativas. Los acuerdos están resultando difíciles debido principalmente por una parte a las diferentes legislaciones sobre la producción de manufacturas y los controles de calidad y, por otra parte a las polémicas desatadas tanto en la prensa como en las redes sociales auspiciadas por la opacidad con que se están realizando las negociaciones. Se presentan índices de productividad. Se analizan las ventajas y desventajas que se producirían en el sector agrícola en ambos lados. Se considera necesario este Tratado para mejorar el nivel de competitividad de ambas partes siempre que las normas sean equitativas.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) (also known as The Treaty for short) is a collaborative project between the European Union and the United States of America with the aim of improving trade between the two regions through the removal of tariffs and administrative barriers. The agreements are proving difficult to implement due to legislative differences regarding manufacturing production and quality control issues but are also being further hindered by controversies unleashed in the press and on social media concerning the opacity with which the negotiations are taking place. Indices of production are presented. The advantages and disadvantages that would be felt by the agriculture sector on both sides are analyzed. This treaty is considered necessary to improve the level of competitiveness for both parties provided the rules are fair and equitable.
