Abstract

This paper presents a method for the automatic selection of the number of radio transmitters, their radiated power and their space location, to supply a coverage inside a building floor. The proposed method applies a best first heuristic scarch strategy. It allows to consider different objectives by a division of the search into two phases, and a heuristic function with terms corresponding to different priority levels in the imposed constraints. The algorithm uses two methods for determining the power received at a given point. The first one uses the direct ray between transmitter and receiver, and the second one is a union of the previous one with a ray-tracing method. The algorithm finds optimal or near optimal solutions, allowing the search to continue after a local minimum of the heuristic function has been reached.
