Archigram: actualizar la arquitectura heredada

Abstract

Este estudio aborda el protagonismo de la ciudad y la arquitectura preexistentes en algunos de los proyectos más importantes de la producción de Archigram. Vinculados históricamente a la cultura Pop y a la tecnificación de la arquitectura, este grupo británico abrazó las prácticas más revolucionarias de la arquitectura de los años 60 y las llevó a su máxima expresión. Se ha escrito mucho sobre sus propuestas de ciudades utópicas. Sin embargo, pocas veces se ha profundizado en sus estrategias de intervención sobre la ciudad heredada. Proyectos como la Instant City y otros derivados de ésta definieron una manera innovadora de enfrentar la actualización de la ciudad y la arquitectura en general. Éstos recogieron los resultados de las principales investigaciones del grupo y los combinaron de manera brillante.This study deals with the importance of pre-existing cities and architecture at some of the most important projects by Archigram. Historically related to Pop Culture and technological architecture, this group embraced some of the most revolutionary architectural experiments of the 60’s and took them to their highest level. A lot has been said about their utopian city proposals. Nevertheless, their strategies for intervention at inherited cities have not been so often studied. Projects such as the Instant City and others which came from it defined an innovative way to update cities and architecture. They inherited the results of the main researches by the group and combined them in a brilliant manner.
