Experimento moderno en un territorio olvidado

Abstract

Entre los distintos proyectos de fuerte cariz Moderno desarrollados para la región de Trás-os-Montes, que caracterizan la obra de Viana de Lima, sobresale el que presentaría en 1953 en el CIAM X en Dubrovnik. Nouvelle Comunité Agricole, es un singular experimento de especial sensibilidad y certera respuesta a los temas en debate en el Congreso. Este proyecto localizado en un territorio abrupto y aislado de la evolución que el país, pese a todo iba teniendo, presenta características geográficas y culturales, que interpretadas por este arquitecto moderno, y el demás equipo CIAM-Porto, resultaría en una original y muy atenta propuesta, cuya importancia y influencia de su matriz compositiva, sigue aún sin el justo reconocimiento, pese a que la temática que evidencia, esté en la base del recorrido que la cultura arquitectónica portuguesa haría en los años siguientes.

Amongst those projects of strong Modern features developed for the region of Trás-osMontes, which characterize the work of Viana de Lima, the Nouvelle Comunité Agricole presented in 1953 at the Ciam X in Dubrovnik definitely stands out as a unique project of particular sensitivity and an accurate response to the themes of the congress. This project is located in a steep harsh territory, cut off from the country’s lagging, but nonetheless effective development. It´s particular geographic and cultural characteristics, subject to the interpretation of this modern architect, along with the CIAM-Porto team, would lead to an original and highly considerate proposal. The thematic patent in such a proposal will set the course for portuguese architectural culture in the following years, however the relevance and future influence of its compositional matrix has yet to be acknowledged.
