Abstract
El Carnaval de Cádiz se ha constituido
desde sus inicios en una fábrica de creatividad
orientada a la generación de coplas, con letra
y música original, que han radiografiado la
sociedad del momento. Hasta hoy el fenómeno
del carnaval gaditano se había abordado
principalmente desde su perspectiva histórica.
Este artículo ahonda y analiza las funciones que
estas agrupaciones han ejercido -a menudo
de manera inconsciente- como veladores,
vigilantes, intérpretes o transmisores, pero
fundamentalmente como contrapoder,
una función ésta propia de los medios de
comunicación social.
From its inception, the Carnival of Cadiz has become a creativity factory oriented to the production of folk songs with original lyrics and music, always analyzing the current society in every moment. To date, the study of this social phenomenon of Cadiz had always been addressed from its historical perspective. The present article analyzes and delves into the functions often unconsciously performed by its musical ensembles: social watchmen, vigilantes, interpreters or transmitters… but above all, their role as a counter-power, being this function typical of the social media.
