Prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad infantil en entorno rural y urbano de Cáceres y Salamanca

Abstract

Objetivo: comparar la prevalencia del sobrepeso y de la obesidad infantil en el entorno rural y en el entorno urbano. Diseño: estudio descriptivo transversal. Emplazamiento: el estudio ha sido llevado a cabo en 4 localidades. Un entorno rural y un entorno urbano de la provincia de Cáceres. Un entorno rural y un entorno urbano de la provincia de Salamanca. Atención primaria. Participantes: muestra aleatoria de 334 sujetos de edades comprendidas entre los 6 y 14 años. Del total de los participantes 123 (36%) eran del entorno rural y 211 (64%) del entorno urbano. Mediciones principales: determinación del sobrepeso y de obesidad infantil en base al IMC y al % graso estimado a través de bioimpedancia eléctrica. Resultados: los resultados del estudio estiman que el global de la muestra del estudio obtiene una prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad infantil inferiores a los de otros estudios nacionales. En cuanto al IMC se estimó un sobrepeso del 15,01% y una obesidad de 13,02%. Con respecto al % graso se estimó un sobrepeso del 17,23% y una obesidad del 17,69%. Sin embargo, resultados más específicos estiman en el entorno rural una mayor prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad que en el entorno urbano (Rural sobrepeso: IMC;15,93% / %graso; 19,88%) (Rural Obesidad: IMC; 14,95% / %graso: 20,31%) (Urbano Sobrepeso: IMC; 14,89% / %graso: 14,59%) (Urbano Obesidad: IMC; 11,26% / %graso; 15,07%). Conclusiones: en la muestra objeto de estudio, la prevalencia del sobrepeso y la obesidad infantil son mayores en el entorno rural que en el entorno urbano, ya sea estimada a través del IMC o a través del % graso.
