Experimentos en situación. Neovanguardia y tradición popular

Abstract

El proyecto de Teatro Móvil del arquitecto Javier Navarro de Zuvillaga fue redactado entre 1970 y 1971 en la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Architectural Association de Londres. Este proyecto no construido partía de una serie de experiencias previas del autor alrededor de lo que llamó Experimentos en Situación, que eran hipótesis de trabajo cuyo formato se situaba entre la arquitectura y la instalación, con una fuerte base teatral derivada de la vanguardia cultural del momento. Este artículo describe el proyecto de Teatro Móvil y da cuenta de alguno de sus precedentes y de sus homólogos. Por un lado esos experimentos situacionales se movían en los parámetros de la vanguardia internacional, pero al mismo tiempo este proyecto hacía uso extensivo de ideas y formalizaciones arquitectónicas tradicionales, directamente vinculadas a la cultura popular y sus manifestacionesThe design for a Mobile Theater by architect Javier Navarro de Zuvillaga was developed between 1970 and 1971 in the School of Architecture of the Architectural Association of London. This unbuilt project was based on a series of previous experiences of the author around what he called Experiments in Situation. These experiments were working hypotheses, midway between architecture and installation, with a strong theatrical base derived from the avant-garde of that cultural moment. This article describes the Mobile Theater project and accounts for some of its precedents and its counterparts. On the one hand, these situational experiments employed the parameters of the international avant-garde, but at the same time this project extensively drew from traditional architectural ideas and formalizations, directly linked to popular culture and its manifestations.
