La representación gráfica en las primeras patentes de hormigón armado depositadas en la Oficina Española de Patentes

Abstract

La materia prima de este artículo son los dibujos inéditos de patentes de hormigón armado de finales del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX de pioneros europeos de esa tecnología, documentadas en la Oficina Española de Patentes y Marcas. En este artículo se estudia cómo esta evolución técnica interpela al dibujo arquitectónico y de ingeniería, poniendo el foco en las tensiones entre el carácter individual de estos dibujos, y su faceta más uniformadora y estandarizada que tratarán de imponer las grandes asociaciones de estándares gráficos europeos, como la British Standards Institution o la Normenausschuss der Deutschen Industrie.The raw material of this article are the unpublished drawings of reinforced concrete patents of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries by pioneers of this technology, documented in the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office. In this article, it is studied how this technical evolution challenged architectural and engineering drawing by highlighting the tensions between the individual character of these drawings and their more uniforming and standard that the leading associations of European graphic standards will try to impose, like the British Standards Institution or the Normenausschuss der Deutschen Industrie
