dc.description.abstractInfective endocarditis (IE) is a rare but potentially lethal disease. Frailty is a prognostic factor in several clinical settings. However, data on IE remain limited. This study aimes to assess the prevalence of prefrailty and frailty in patients with IE, and their association with in-hospital and 1-year postdischarge outcomes. This prospective observational study included 197 patients with IE from two referral centres. Frailty was assessed using the FRAIL scale (which evaluates Fatigue, Resistance, Ambulation, Illnesses, and Loss of weight), categorizing patients as robust, prefrail, and frail. Outcomes included acute heart failure (AHF), in-hospital and 1-year mortality, and rehospitalization.en
