Abstract
During the 1960s and `70s in Spain, the Catalan firm Grifé & Escoda marketed a chair made of assembled pieces of curved wood that some of the most significant architects of the time, such as Alejandro de la Sota, Rafael de La-Hoz or José María García de Paredes, used to furnish both the public areas of some of their essential works as well as their own homes and privates offices. This article examines the Grifé & Escoda chair, so named by the autor, and provides historic references, hitherto unpublished data and technical drawings which have been scarcely addressed in the catalogues and research on Spanish modern furniture to date.
