Liquid Landscapes in the Digital Era: Ephemeral Art and Architecture, Mediated Traces, and Territorial Identity

Abstract

Este estudio analiza cómo las intervenciones efímeras en arte y arquitectura, al ser registradas, compartidas y recirculadas en plataformas digitales, dejan de ser acontecimientos temporales para convertirse en huellas persistentes que intervienen en la producción simbólica del territorio. Se propone el concepto de paisaje líquido para describir contextos en los que la identidad territorial se vuelve dinámica, disputada y reinterpretable bajo la acción conjunta del turismo, la cultura visual y los medios digitales. La investigación adopta un enfoque cualitativo, documental e interpretativo, basado en una revisión bibliográfica y en un análisis comparativo multiescalar de casos territoriales y locales. Los resultados muestran que la efimeridad se transforma en archivo distribuido, que la licuefacción territorial opera como gradiente de densidades simbólicas y que las huellas digitales actúan como infraestructuras de visibilidad, memoria y valor. Se concluye que la planificación debe integrar indicadores digitales junto a criterios patrimoniales y ambientales del territorio contemporáneo.

This study analyzes how ephemeral interventions in art and architecture, once recorded, shared, and recirculated through digital platforms, cease to be merely temporary events and become persistent traces that contribute to the symbolic production of territory. It proposes the concept of the liquid landscape to describe contexts in which territorial identity becomes dynamic, contested, and open to reinterpretation under the combined influence of tourism, visual culture, and digital media. The research adopts a qualitative, documentary, and interpretive approach, based on a bibliographic review and a multiscale comparative analysis of selected territorial and local cases. The results show that ephemerality is transformed into a distributed archive, that territorial liquefaction operates as a gradient of symbolic densities, and that digital traces function as infrastructures of visibility, memory, and value. The study concludes that planning should integrate digital trace indicators alongside heritage and environmental criteria in the interpretation of contemporary territory.
