Abstract

Visitors perception of urban environments is variable, with its main determinants being architectural design, the quality of social spaces, and environmental respect and commitment. These three parameters play a fundamental role in the visitor's conceptualization of a secure, sustainable, and appealing city to visit. However, these may not always be the priority parameters for residents in these areas. Considering tourist interest in urban environments in the Canary Islands involves a well established setting where residents and visitors coexist, a pedagogical practice of research, selection, and urban improvement projection has been carried out. This approach focuses on intervention in existing elements and inner regeneration as a means of integration through the consensus of both resident and visitor communities
