Low-fidelity handmade simulator for pediatric dentistry simulated scenarios. Journal of Dental Education, 86(Suppl 3), 1751–1752. https://doi.org/10.1002/jdd.129620022-03371930-7837http://hdl.handle.net/11268/12510Simulation-based learning supports the acquisition of competencies in safe learning environments. The lack of full-body simulators to practice these competencies is exacerbated in pediatric dentistry, In order to have a pediatric dental simulator, one was built by modifying an Erler Zimmer X-ray phantom head and adding a handmade body. The simulator was used in the subject of Paediatric Dentistry at Universidad Europea de Madrid during 2021 and 2022. A sample of 114 students completed a pre- and postscenario questionnaire to determine their self-perception of acquired clinical competence. Perception of clinical competence improved significantly after participating in the simulated scenarios using the simulator that permitted to work inside the mouth. It was demonstrated that sophisticated simulators are not necessary to develop clinical competencies. The innovation became very useful in the COVID-19 pandemic.engAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Odontología pediátricaEjercicio de simulaciónLow-fidelity handmade simulator for pediatric dentistry simulated scenariosjournal article10.1002/jdd.12962open accessEnseñanza superiorInnovación educacionalMétodo de aprendizaje
