dc.description.abstract | Physical Activity (PA) is associated with better health levels (Sallis, 2009) and the Cardiopulmonary fitness recognized like one of the best indicators of Physical performance, which can be related with some items of Quality of Life (QL), therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the relationship between the Quality of Life (QL) and cardiorespiratory fitness of health workers. Methods Sample was formed by 74 health workers (31 men, mean age 36.76 and 43 women, mean age 38.46), measured with the Short-Form Health Survey SF36 (Alonso, Prieto y Antó, 1995) and incremental cardiopulmonary test. Results Vo2’s Mean values are higher in Men (39.84 ml/kg/min SD 7.91) than in women (30.74 ml/kg/min SD 5.89) but not significant. Men show higher scores than women but significant differences are present only in Physical Functioning, Role Physical (P< 0.05) and Role Emotional (P< 0.01) scales. Results showed that better cardiorespiratory fitness is related to higher scores in SF36. Discussion These findings suggest that insofar the values of Vo2Max. in a healthy adult workers population is higher, are better the results obtained in the different items that the SF36 evaluated as to the perceived QL, therefore can be assumed to have a good fitness means having a better QL. | spa |
